188. The Crazy Chin gs: Monica Horan (Amy McDougal-Barone) Fred Willard (Hank McDougal) Chris Elliott (Peter McDougal) Georgia Engel (Pat McDougal) Hiram Kasten () Seamus O'Brien () Robert becomes defensive when Amy's parents point out his habit of touching food to his chin before eating it, and Amy devises a plan to break Robert of his strange habit. --- Great, this is what I have to look forward to when I become a psychologist.

Change your major. Man, this episode sounds like a real yawner. It has the potential to dislodge 'Peter on the Couch' as the worst episode of this season.

Yeah I vote ahead of time that this episode will suck.

Pretty good ep. I'd say B+. Better than I expected. The parts about the psychological aspects were amusing. I have to say, I've never heard of a "Behavioral Psychology" class, though. I think most curriculums combine it with something else. After all, it's a bit redundant since psychology IS the study of behavior. Most classes talk about how something influences behavior, like behavioral neuroscience or learning & behavioral analysis. The closing vignette was just faucking hilarious though.

I give it a C+ It was funny in parts but nothing that great. Debra reminded me of every person who's taken an intro to psych class I always liked to diagnose people using the pathway of negative emotions. You're angry because you're scared you're scared because your....(damn it I have forgotten the pathway ) Is it weird that I saw the baby feeding thing coming a mile away?

Hehe... yea I know what you mean. An argument being increasingly leveled at psychologists is they focus too much on the past. Who cares WHY you do something so long as you continue to do it? I'm not sure if his crazy chin habit is operant or classical conditioning. I suppose it depends on whether he finds it rewarding or whether he simply began to associate it with all forms of eating. Oh welll. Personally I think you can just break it down to his existential fear of freedom.

I didn't have to take a PSHYC class! Great, Marie's favoritism is responsible for another of Robert's idiosyncrasies. Poor Roberto.. Better than expected. Grade: B-

Did anyone else notice when Frank points to Marie and says "There was only one more to go!" and when he pulls his hand back it looks like he's holstering a gun?

Yep, I noticed that too; but his attempt looked feeble.
Hey, you already got the key to the mint!

Aside from this episode, did Robert even do the chin touching at all this season?

Hey it's ELRF under a new identity! I finally got in after some major trouble. Thanks for helping me out Sam!
How it going everyone?!
OK, I'll be honest I did not this episode. Everyone I talked to loved it, the only good part was Pat putting the sweet potatoes to her chin.
I give it a D+

Welcome back, ELRF. Dan, I don't recall a specific instance where Robert touched his chin this season, but I'm pretty sure he did so at least once. I'm starting to watch Season 8 from the begining again and I'll let you know if I see Robert do his chin act. I'm gonna skip "Peter on the Couch" though. No point in torturing myself once again. ;D

I specifically watched Peter on the COuch last night to see if Robert does the chin thing, since I do remember the breakfast scene with the eggs and Robert complaining about Peter overstaying his welcome.
Didn't see it though.
