"Ray and Robert argue over which of them will take care of Marie if Frank dies first. When they are unable to agree, they decide to play golf to determine who gets the duty."
I'm not sure if they're arguing over who gets to take care of em because they WANT to do it or because they DON'T want to do it.. either way, this is one weird ass ep and it reminds me of "The Game" from Season 1.

This episiode IS gonna be the last episode of this season. There's no "Debra Vacations." Here's an excerpt from a May 14 column from the Seattle Post Intelligencer. If you're interested, the complete column can be found here. seattlepi.nwsource.com/tv/173246_tv14.html Besides, "Everybody Loves Raymond," though still more reliable for 22 minutes of smiles punctuated by hearty chuckles than most sitcoms out there, has had its day. Yeah, the crazy chin episode was as touching as it was funny. And it may be one of the few shows other than "Seinfeld" that can make two brothers playing golf to see who gets saddled with Mom after Pop dies, the main event in May 24's season finale, come across as both endearing and really twisted. Nevertheless, one more season and "Raymond," currently ranked No. 11, will wear out its welcome. Fortunately, next season, its ninth, is supposed to be its last.

If that's true yupi, then I have to say I'm disgusted with this new trend of NOT showing flashback eps as the season finale!

So if there is no "Debra Vacations 1 & 2" this season, do you think that was possibly the series finale they had written in the event that this were the last season? Hmm...that would be interesting to think about...

Wow that ep was just... what's the word? Queer! Season 8 is burning up on re-entry, headed for disaster... That was weird when Deb asked blandly 'do you want to have sex?' and Ray says no, then yes hahaha... Given how angry Ray was that must'a been a rough one. If you know what I mean. C-.

I am 99.9% sure that Golf for it is going to be the final episode of this season. For further proof, check out Ray and Patty's upcoming TV schedules at www.tv-now.com/stars/ and you'll see there's no new episode listed for Monday, May 31 st. Lauren, that's what I think too. "Debra Vacations" could have been the 1 hour series finale episode they were planning to tape if Ray and company had decided not to return for S9. With regard to them not doing flashback anymore, I think there may be a practical consideration behind that decision. Have you guys noticed Ray, Patty and Brad have aged noticeably since the show started and particularly since S5? For the first five seasons, all they had to do to act out their younger selves was change their hairstyles and clothes. Whereas in S6 - the last time they incorporated a flashback scene in the season finale- Ray and Patty had to wear wigs and apply makeups. Back to tonight's episode... Two thumbs up for The Mentor! As the plot sounded really goofy, I wasn't very optimistic going in. But, it turned out to be MUCH better than what I was expecting. The plot turned out to be reasonable after all and the jokes were sharp and funny. This will definitely get my repeat attention! Grade: B+ Has anybody noticed Ray and Phil haven't collaborated on any episode this season? They usually write 1-3 episodes every season. Only one episode left now.

I thought the Mentor was good. I like Sammy's reaction to Frank's criticism showing the boys how they shoudl have reacted! As for Ray saying no to sex, I did not beleive that for a second. How could any man say no to Debra? LOL I was only concerned about whether or not she was just testing him to see if he was paying attention then say NO! LOL

Further description from www.cbs.com/primetime/everybody_loves_raymond/SEASON FINALE Monday, May 24, 9PM ET/PT "Golf For It" Robert and Ray end up with the mother of all guilt trips when they decide not to help Marie with a home project so they can land a prime spot on the golf course. Their overnight wait in the car for a tee time becomes a brawl over their respective roles in their parents’ future. Interesting.... P.S.The synopsis on tvguide.com says Richard Romano has cameo role as a golf official in this episode.

Play a round of golf to help decide who gets to take care of their widowed mother? Weird... I hope I'm proven wrong, but this episode could very well go down as the worst season finale of them all. I give it a pre-emptive thumbs down.

Gee yup, giver it a chance! The trailer says they do not even get to play golf but merely brawl over the idea!
I think Robert and Ray's fights are some of the funniest stuff.
I hope Robert gets Debra some day!
